Northern Virginia Wedding, Taylor and Tommy

A very beautiful ceremony at St Francis in Quantico, VA. The wedding reception at Old Hickory Golf Club offered beautiful scenery, especially with the fall in full color. Old Hickory is a great wedding location, classic looking, very nice cocktail area, 1920's looking woodwork throughout.
The food was delicious, they even had some of the gourmet cookies I used to get at my grandparents on our visits in Paris!
Tommy and Taylor you were a pleasure to photograph, we really enjoyed our time with you guys. Tommy is an golf pro in Northern VA.. You just might see him again soon. We wish you guys the best.

Fredericksburg VA Wedding Locations, and Surrounding

Love is in the air... couples are getting engaged around this time and starting to make wedding plans. Fredericksburg has many beautiful wedding locations, including some historic ones.

Snowden House, Fredericksburg Square, Belmont, Fawn Lake, The Jepson Center (University of Mary Washington-you may need to be an alumni), Kenmore Inn, The Tides Inn...

If you are planning a daytime wedding, as far as outdoors, Snowden House, Belmont, and Tides Inn are some favorites. Fawn Lake has some nice outdoor areas, but is less landscaped than the previous, and it may require that you live there or know someone who does. The Jepson is nice too, the outdoor areas offer a few very nice spots for bridal photography. Indoors, it is beautiful. We will be posting photos from a recent wedding soon.

Fredericksburg Square is a nice turnkey package for food, dj, ceremony and reception, but offers less outdoor scenarios for photography, unless you hit the streets for edgy group shots.

Belmont is amazing, really an outstanding outdoor venue. The indoors are modern, not huge, but nice.

Great Wedding Ideas...

Planning a wedding? Check out the link to this wedding blog, full of great ideas of all shapes and sizes. Decorations, gowns, shoes, flowers, locations...I love the idea of jellies on your wedding day-fun and trendy with some class, check out these cool wedding shoes here. Happy planning!

Krista and Richard

Krista and Richard had a beautiful and most romantic wedding at historic Belmont in Fredericksburg, VA. Your love, joy, and sincerity make you such a joy to be around. We are so honored that you trusted us to capture this piece of your history and to celebrate your day with you. Thank you so much.

Above is a sampling of some of our favorite photos from your wedding. We've posted this on facebook too, so feel free to comment or tag facebook friends here.

Historic Belmont, Fredericksburg Virginia. Beautiful wedding venue.

Such a Wonderful Wedding! Amanda and Matt

What a sweet family!

Beautiful bride and groom, bridal party, so many smiles and joy. Great weather and location at Fredericksburg's Jepson Center. It was great documenting this memorable wonderful event. One sacred ritual, one party, a celebration of love to remember forever.

The food was absolutely out of this world delicious. Gorgeous wedding cake, made here in Fredericksburg (the family was very selective in their choice, as you can see.. one of the most beautiful cakes ever). Elegant wedding with great attention to detail.

Richard and Krista Wedding

I find myself short of words.. "awesome, beautiful, amazing".

It almost sounds cliché. I think it's because words just don't do it justice. A wedding is a miracle, one of the great exclamation points of life. Births, anniversaries, sacred holidays. Rituals, with deep meaning, mysterious... defined as "holy"... a household word to some, a traditional term to meaning...

A wedding, brings me back to that place.. my wife and I first kissing, the birth of my children, seeing my parents or grandparents after a long separation.

Emotion, a concept difficult to define.
Some things you just can't put in words.

Richard and Krista, though it rained, you were the sunshine.

Beautiful Bride and Groom, Krista and Richard

We are very touched by this sweet couple.. we feel blessed that they have chosen us as their wedding photographers, to capture and create beautiful memories of their engagement and of their greatest day together, the day they will become one.

Krista and Richard are getting married tomorrow at beautiful Belmont in Fredericksburg, VA... home of the famous artist Gari Melchers. I am praying the weather turns to sun, but know that regardless, the day will be most beautiful, as the love these two have for each other, their families, will shine through. We are prepared to capture beauty regardless of the weather.

We are also looking forward to working with Human Story Films, a talented group of wedding film makers. We met William at a bridal show a few years ago and have touted his work since.
Hey, we like this photo so much we're making it our new profile photo on our Facebook.

Hey everyone, just wanted to poke my head out of the water to say we're still here alive and well. We have been staying steadily busy this wedding season, we have partnered with Pictage.com for our client proofing, we believe this will come as a great plus for everyone. Pictage provides awesome service and products for professional wedding photographers and their customers.

We are excited about some upcoming events at the Tides Inn, a beautiful location for weddings, right on the water, in a sweet 1920s era setting, tucked away here in Virginia, yet not too far from Maryland and D.C. Couples looking at east coast destination weddings are going to want to check out Tides Inn as a scenic location where old trees abound, sunrises and sunsets might just be sensational.

Happy Spring to all.

I'm becoming a fan of Josh Garrels. And while I'm at it, wanted to get the word out about Frank and Melanie's beautiful tile work. A beautiful couple, family and family business.

Puts a smile on my face...:)

Destin FL

You know, when you're away for a while, you realize how much you miss your loved ones, how important they are. We just spent a week in Florida visiting family.

We were in Destin FL, a beautiful place.

Nick Vujicik

I just love this man's heart, spirit and candor.

Over the River and Through the Woods

As promised, a photo from the recent snow we got. This is our little home, here in Caret, Virginia, nestled in farmlands between Fredericksburg and Tappahannock. It's hard to believe we had all that snow just a week ago. Now we're wearing shorts.

On a warmer note, if you are considering a Virginia getaway, wedding, or other event, Tides Inn, located on the water in quaint Irvington,Va should be considered. A personal visit reveals a very charming place.

By Invitation Only

Enjoying the heat again, now that we've regained power here.. Half way between Fredericksburg and Richmond, we were among the many without modern conveniences from Sunday until Tuesday afternoon. At first, it's rather fun. Feels like a reality show... the kind where you're living in the 1800's as a Pioneer, trying to survive. After 2 days though, it has gotten old.

BRIDAL SHOW BY INVITATION ONLY!
We're gearing up for another Virginia Bridal Show, this time at Eden Try, a new Virginia wedding venue, right here in Fredericksburg. This event will take place on Sunday March 15, 2009 from 11am-4pm. This event is by invitation only, so please contact Eden Try if you wish to attend.

See you there!

Music

There are some great songs on the playlist at the bottom right. I really have an appreciation for a variety of tunes... from Edith Piaf, a french singer from the 1940s to Bob Marley... to Jack Johnson.

Lincoln Brewster's "Amazed" has realy spoken to me. The verse it's based on, Zephaniah 3:17, tells us God is excited about us and dances and sings with joy over us. I do that sometimes with my kids :)

fireproof

Really, we're not turning into a movie review blog... but when we see a good movie, which is not that often, we like to pass it on. They were saying on the radio that Fire Proof was produced for under $500k. Pretty cool. If you're married or thinking about getting married, this is worth watching. And, Kirk Cameron is in it.. that, is a trip.

johnny cash

Nothing to do with photography in this post. but with human emotion. This is such a moving story. I have really come to appreciate Johnny Cash's life after watching this. He suffered greatly and took many wrong turns, but ultimately found what he was looking for.

My grandmother kept his biography in her guest bedroom and from its pages, I learned that he did find peace eventually. There's a write up on him here with parts of his story left out from the movie. A touching story.

Virginia Bridal Show

We are planning on participating in the Historic Kinloch Spring Open House, Sunday February 1st, 2009, from 1:00 to 4:00pm.

Holiday Party

There's something to be said about celebrating accomplishments.. a time to reflect, have fun, acknowledge past successes and future possibilities. I think we ought to do this more often. This was a beautiful evening and a cheerful crowd. We enjoyed our time very much :)

Thank You!

It was GREAT meeting so many of you at the show last week..! Future Brides & Grooms, many vendors, thank you all for stopping by to meet us and view our samples... and thanks for the very kind words :) we are looking forward to working with you.

Looking Your Best in Your Pictures

I've been wanting to post some tips about preparing for your photography session, be it a wedding or portrait. Looking back at my own wedding, I know I shouldn't have had my hair cut 2 days before... in our wedding photos I didn't look like I typically do. The following link is to a an article by a stock photographer, some may apply some may not, but it is worth checking out. http://www.arcurs.com/model-preparations-before-a-shoot

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all!
This is hopefully for you a time to enjoy with friends, family. I just asked Patti and the kids 2 things they're thankful for... this is what I got:

Caleb, 7: "Mom and Dad"
Caden, 5: "Mommy and snuggle time"
Jameson, 2: (no comment, surprisingly... but we know for a fact he loves trucks and balls)
Patti: "My family and chocolate"

As for me, (Philippe) my family, and the gift of life. There is truly so much to appreciate. We are grateful for those who serve this country, for our friends and family, and for God who is love... who gave the pilgrims something to be thankful for, life.

New Website Almost Here!

We are getting pretty excited about our new website, due to come out very soon. It's not final yet, but we're itching to get it out there, so, here it is...

Heirlooms

These are my ancestors. Visiting mom in France recently, I found this photo in an old wooden suitcase. It's my grandfather and grandmother's wedding... These are my children's great grandparents, and great great grandparents, and great uncles and aunts. This photo has meant a lot to me, reminds me. My kids will appreciate this some day.. well, they have already, looking at the screen over my shoulder :)

Joshua

Some shots from our recent trip to France of my godson and friend Joshua. Bonjour Joshua!

Joshua with his grandma Monique. She knew me back when I was a little kid. She's mom's best friend, a very sweet lady and gifted artist too.

More About Us

Patti and I shoot wedding and portrait photography.. we do this part time for now, and Lord willing, will be doing it full time some day. Part of my present day job includes corporate and advertising photography, samples of which you can view on flickr. My schooling was in fine art. I studied at VCU School of the Arts, earning a BFA with honors in Communication Arts Design in '94. I worked for Dale Glasgow many years after that, producing emerging multimedia and honing digital illustration skills with 3D and vector programs. Dale's sites are http://www.glasgowmedia.com/ and http://www.daleglasgow.com/. Check him out.. he's good.

As a kid, I was often lost in dreamland, as many kids are. My mother, a french painter, and I frequenly visited museums and galleries as a kid. I don't remember them all, but the Louvre and several impressionists' studios on the French Riviera stand out. These experiences helped shaped my appreciation for art, for light, for beauty. Albert Bierstadt is one my favorite artists.

Today, my wife and I raise our family and steadily aim to grow our photography work. We love shooting. The technical thrills of photography are great, but envisioning and then creating images that are beautiful, memorable and meaningful, is a joy to us. We hope to one day see our work grace the walls of many homes and bring much joy to many. We are engaged with top printing services so that we can offer the highest quality prints and albums to our clients.
